Servant? Team Player? Leader? Servant Leader?

These are the questions I ponder after talking to my friends about work. It shocked me to hear that being a servant in aspects of leadership apparently has aspects which are negatively looked upon.

What is wrong with serving the BIGGER PICTURE even when the leader is unwelcomed? Really wrong? Even when we do not follow the leader whole-heartedly, serving him with intention of the BIGGER PICTURE is still wrong or ought to be frowned upon?

Is this naive, as in the words of one person? Is this taking things personally, as in the words of another? I thought some friends will know better. Perhaps in this working world, and in such environment, different people just have different viewpoints; even if some may be extreme. Is it really so?

At this moment in time, I am happy and sad at the same time. For some time, I thought I had lost myself in this “war” surrounded by “negative energy”; that I’ve changed into someone I do not even find pleasant or desirable. But realising that I am not consumed by this “negative energy”, that I still want to do something good, I feel happy. Maybe I will be “eaten” as I get into the working world. But will I open my eyes big enough to see? Only time will tell.

At the end of the day, my parents and prawnie taught me not to do evil deeds or constantly carry evil thoughts. The joy of achieving accomplishment is limitless; so are the dangers of helping the wrong people. Maturity and experiences will be the only factors providing me the required strengths to sustain in my career.

The Knee is hurt…

As we played sports today in “rehearsal practice” for the actual team (which I was definitely not a part of), I slipped not once, but twice, and landed on my butt. The horror came when I tried to save another ball which sent me sliding across the wet cement floor and before I knew it, my knee slammed into the wall. From then on, the pain and numbness gradually set in as I tried to endure for a few more sets of game. But when I find my leg trembling after some time, I knew this was not a normal fall! Damn! Slowly the knee starts to become stiff and sore, as it ached with every bent it made.

After putting ice pack on it, and sleeping on bed for an hour or so, the pain subsided but not the tightness and slight sore at the knee cap area. Now I realised how important our legs are to us. For long, we like to take them for granted, neglecting the crucial roles our knees play in our great mobility.

Consider myself lucky that essential physical activities are completed as I’m left with few months of training; it’s mainly academic these days. Nonetheless, I just hope they recover fast enough; because it really hurts just moving around in my room.

Most important lesson learnt: I just love my racquet games more…

P-day: 30 September 2011

As Prawnie opened the decoy box, she saw the bears from Love and Co. I got down on my knees and my heart and mind was anxious of what words would come out next. Question popped, and Prawnie said YES!!!

I am a lucky man to have prawnie as my fiancee. (perhaps all say the same thing of their partners, but still… ) All these years of loving, dating, hardships, laughter and tears- never was there a day when we stop loving each other. The success of this proposal has made me feel different about our relationship: maybe cos we are “promoted” to different status! haha. I wanted to work even harder for our future and for Prawnie. I want to love her and provide the most simplest and yet comfortable life for this family that we are building.

I love you lots, Prawnie!

3 weeks completed…

Three official weeks of training have passed; and I am missing my weekends already. Weekends always seem so short-lived while it will be soon before we book in again. Life as SOT has been positive so far. And we have much more duties and learning to perform in time to come.

I miss shopping with prawnie and spending time just nuaing around with prawnie at many places, like treelodge. haha.
